My equipment
Many people ask me about my equipment. I am happy to introduce you to my faithful companions of more than 20 years. The following brands, in alphabetical order, have helped me to experience and survive my extensive adventures.
As a tent, there is no other brand for me than Hilleberg. I have the Akto and the Soulo. The Akto is lighter with smaller packing dimensions for shorter trips. The Soulo, on the other hand, is much more comfortable and, above all, freestanding.
The best rim brake is the Magura HS33. Disc brakes are now so well developed that rim brakes are slowly disappearing.
Many thanks to Reise Know How, who have always provided me with maps of the countries (there are now 102 countries!).
In 2003, Rohloff was the only gear of choice. It was serviced after every long trip. Thank you very much. After 200,000 kilometers I still have the (more or less 🙂 ) same 14-speed Rohloff hub.
I can tell many nice stories about Schwalbe tires. I was allowed to test the new rubber compound for the Schwalbe Marathon and was sent new test tires wherever I went – luxury! Thank you very much.
I have a very personal relationship with Velotraum. I loved going to Weil der Stadt and always got great service. Thank you very much.
Ortlieb was actually unofficially part of it too. I always got my old bags replaced.
One more thing: I manage to break everything (not deliberately, mind you!)
All refer to the sponsoring of material.
Many thanks to all my sponsors who have made my unforgettable trips possible.
I will remain with these well-tried products on my future trips.
